We Hire Experts

Nature Trail is flexible to hiring experienced outdoor tour guides and tour leaders on a subcontracted tour-by-tour basis who can expertly deliver a given tour of ours.

We also are keen to hire local-knowledge experts of the Blue Mountains and Central West regions who may have no particular qualifications, on a subcontracted tour-by-tour basis.

Our needs vary with our customer demand, for instance:

  • When we’re due to tour a district and would value the value-added local knowledge of a site guide
  • When we receive excess bookings
  • When we receive a request for a tailored tour on a date that happens clash with one of our pre-arranged programmed tours
  • When we have resourcing shortfalls.

Useful current skills that we value:

  • An expert with local knowledge about a particular place of visitor interest in the Blue Mountains or Central West NSW, who can confidently impart that knowledge to a small group of visitors in situ.
  • An expert in any of our chosen Special Interest tour fields
  • Hiking experience – navigating, healthy, fit, bushwalking risk awareness, gear knowledge
  • Familiar with Blue Mountains walking tracks
  • Tour guiding experience and qualifications
  • Blue Mountains local knowledge including ecology, landmarks, with a passion for interpretation
  • TAFE Outdoor Recreation qualifications in bushwalking/canyoning
  • First Aid qualifications – ideally to remote area/wilderness level
  • 4×4 driving and recovery skills and experience.

At Nature Trail we emphasise maintaining Our Tour Standards on each and every tour that we deliver, so reasonably, we insist upon the following attributes of anyone wishing to subcontract with us:

  • Being of good character – honest, trustworthy, reliable, pragmatic, ethical, responsible, level-headed, abstemious, having referees
  • Highly organised, punctual, having tour planning experience, and resourceful
  • People skills – personable, gregarious, good communicator, displaying emotional empathy, group field leadership experience, conflict handling skills, customer service focused.

We consider these qualities more valuable than qualifications and we don’t discriminate on age, gender, ethnicity or background.
