NSW Member for Port Macquarie raises questions in Parliament about Service NSW COVID-19 Micro Business Grant Audit scandal

During 2023, as Service NSW CEO Greg Wells was driving his ring-in debt collection scheme within his secret internal ‘Business Bureau’ to tar-brush target ordinary grant recipients to try to claw back thousands of grant payments, his Bureau’s intimidating behaviour was starting to come under the spotlight of the New South Wales Parliament.

We subsequently learn that in the NSW Legislative Assembly on 1st August 2023, Liberal member for the NSW seat of Port Macquarie, The Hon. Leslie Williams MP, stood up for her constituents to question the NSW Minns’ Labor Government justification for its ongoing financial ‘audit’ of many grant recipient businesses.

We reproduce those questions thus:

“896 – COVID-19 MICRO BUSINESS GRANT AUDITS

Williams, Leslie to the (NSW) Attorney General (The Hon. Michael Daley MP) representing the Minister for Finance, and Minister for Natural Resources (The Hon. Courtney Houssos MLC):

  1. How many people in the Port Macquarie electorate are being audited for receiving a COVID-19 Micro Business Grant?
  2. Why is the Government conducting the audit even in cases where applicants met all of the application criteria?
  3. Why is the Government undertaking audits two years after the grants ended?

[Question asked on 1 August 2023 (session 58-1) and printed in Questions & Answers Paper No. 17]

Answer (by NSW Attorney General, The Hon. Michael Daley MP:

“These questions are more appropriately directed to the Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government”  (being The Hon. Jihad Dib MP)

[Answer received on 5 September 2023 and printed in Questions & Answers Paper No. 23]”

Our Comments:

  1. We have duly contacted the Parliamentary office of The Hon. Leslie Williams and thanked her for her interest, support and actions in Parliament to represent the serious concerns of constituents in her Port Macquarie electorate impacted by Service NSW’s ongoing audit scam.
  2. What a cop out by Daley!   Daley would have know the question was pending, since he was representing the Minister for Finance in Parliament, or was he seat warming?
  3. So Jihad Dib, how many people across the state of New South Wales are currently in 2024 still being ‘audited’ (debt collected) despite being Service NSW-approved?  Why and on what legal basis?
  4. So Jihad Dib, indeed why is the Minns Government conducting the audit even in cases where applicants met all of the application criteria?
  5. So Jihad Dib, why is the Minns Government undertaking audits two years after the grants ended, in breach of the Grant’s contractual terms and conditions Clause 4.8?
  6. Daley could have otherwise stated he would take the question on notice and duly forwarded them to Jihad Dib at his next opportunity.  Does he know Jihad?
  7. It seems across the Minns Ministry those dabbling in financial portfolios lack  suitable training, qualifications and experience. They have Arts degrees but that doesnt help them in accountingf and finance.  Jihad Dib? (Arts), Courtney Houssos? (Arts), Chris Minns? (Arts).  None qualified or experienced in finance or accounting.  Michael Daley holds a diploma in Law.  Does the current Treasurer Daniel Mookhey hold any accounting qualifications?  What would they be?  He does not have the post nominals ‘CA’, ‘CPA’ nor ‘NPA’ after his name, which suggests he’s not a qualified accountant.  At least Gladys and Dominic held degrees in Commerce.

The Minns Mafia’s extortion via its Business Bureau in Service NSW persists.
